Learning a new language, in this case, Spanish, can be boring because of the resources that we have. However, we often forget that this process can be fun if we look for different methods. In this article, we are going to show you how to learn Spanish through music, with some songs that can help you improve your grammar, vocabulary, listening skills, etc.
To make this way of learning useful, it’s important to:
- Listen actively: Pay attention to the words that you hear and look up the meaning of those you don’t understand. Listening repeatedly will also help you internalize the sentences.
- Sing out loud: Don’t be embarrassed about this one. You don’t need to have a perfect voice; it’s just for improving your pronunciation and strengthening your memory. You can even record yourself to compare your pronunciation with the singer’s. Not the tone, but the words you say!
- Use the lyrics: Look up the lyrics of the songs and read them while listening. This improves the association between sounds and words.
- Integrate music into your routine: Instead of listening to your usual songs and playlists, create a new one with songs in Spanish and play it in your daily routine—while driving, exercising, or doing housework.
Here are the songs we recommend to learn Spanish:
Vivir mi vida – Marc Anthony
This happy and motivational song makes it perfect to listen to every day and use as a resource, thanks to its sentences related to everyday life and optimism. Its chorus helps with words like “vivir” (live), “reír” (laugh), and “bailar” (dance).
Eres tú – Mocedades
