Factors that create the necessary conditions for learning a foreign language:

1- Motivation

You must understand exactly what motivates you to learn Spanish online. It may be an upcoming trip, a business trip, the need to use the language at work or something else.

To start speaking Spanish, motivation is the minimum you must have.

Everybody knows about motivation, it’s a lot to talk about. But not everyone guesses that there is something much stronger than motivation. And that’s interest.

2- Interest

While there are two types of motivation, striving motivation (positive) and avoidance motivation (negative), interest is always positive, it inspires and empowers. If you manage to maintain your interest in Spanish learning, your speed will be very high because you will start to invest your time in language learning.

3- Time

It will take you more or less time to learn the new language, depending on how much you use the rest of the tips. You will need to get that time somewhere. You’ll probably have to give up something to do that. It is best to give up wasted time: TV, excessive sitting on the internet, bad habits.

With the investment of time, you’ll need health.

4- Health

Because your health depends on your performance and the ability of your brain to absorb new information. So, take care of your health – eat well, do sports, walk in the fresh air, follow the regime. And you will have a powerful resource that will not let you down!

Having talked about supporting factors, let’s move on to actions and skills. And the first action that immediately comes to my mind is reading.

5- Reading

Famous linguist Stephen Krashen put forward a number of hypotheses about how language learning takes place. Among several conditions necessary for successful language learning, he identified the following:

  • Mass flow of incoming information in the language being studied.
  • The information must be of a level of complexity just above your level of language knowledge.
  • The information must be of personal interest to you.

All these conditions perfectly match the reading. There is a lot of information around us for reading in Spanish, and you can always find interesting reading for your level of language knowledge.

6- Vocabulary

No secret that an extensive vocabulary opens up a lot of horizons in terms of foreign language skills. If you have a rich vocabulary of foreign words, you will easily understand other people’s speech and will feel more confident as you can communicate on a wider range of topics.

Currently, there are a number of methods that allow you to expand your vocabulary quite effectively. Learn them and put them into practice.

7- Audio

In addition to reading, listening to audio recordings is another powerful factor. Just like with reading, we are surrounded by an endless list of audio books, podcasts, online radio stations. And this is not all possible sources of quality audio material in Spanish. Moreover, you can listen at a time when you are busy with some other simple mechanical action, which provides serious opportunities to save time.

8- Songs

We would like to single out the songs as a way to learn Spanish. This may not be the way for everyone, but those who love music and songs can benefit from this method. It consists of parsing the lyrics of your favorite songs in Spanish and memorizing them by heart. Songs are quite easy to memorize and can be listened to many times. You can listen to them everywhere. They can be sung, thus practicing pronunciation skills in the language you are studying.

You can watch feature films, serials, TV shows, news, popular science films and etc. By watching TV series in Spanish conversational speech effectively, watching videos in your subject area, you can seriously expand vocabulary in this area.

10- Pronunciation

There is an authoritative opinion that native speakers make the first impression about the degree of foreign language proficiency by their pronunciation. If you want the Spanish-speaking native speakers with whom you have to communicate to have a high opinion of your level of proficiency, take up the challenge of pronunciation.

11- Communication

At some stage of learning Spanish you need to move on to communicating in Spanish, unless, of course, you are learning the language just to read, listen or watch something in it. In the past, there was very little opportunity to communicate in the language you were learning. Now communication is available thanks to the fast development of the Internet. Nowadays, it is possible to communicate with native speakers in various forums. There are many language exchange sites where you can find native speakers of the language you are learning and agree that you will communicate with them half the time in their language and the other half in Spanish.
